Friends award 3 scholarships
Your membership is at work with the second year of Friends of WRR scholarships given to three local students for their college music studies.
Kaleb Munoz is a Booker T. Washington graduate and a member of Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s Young Strings who will attend Texas State to double major in music performance (cello) and sound recording technology with a minor in music composition.
Trevor Norris graduated from J.J. Pearce in Richardson and will major in musical theater at Marymount Manhattan College. He played the lead in his school’s musical which was selected to be showcased at the International Thespian Convention this summer.
Sydnee Turrentine-Johnson graduated from McKinney Boyd High School and will major in vocal performance or music education at Clark Atlanta University. Her goal is to “sing for a living and to be able to sing in a cathedral in front of an amazing orchestra.”
Each received $5,000 payable over four years as long as they maintain the scholarship requirements. Congratulations to Kaleb, Sydnee and Trevor!
A portion of the funding of the three scholarships was donated specifically for that purpose by a private foundation and individual donors. If you are interested in donating to future scholarships, please contact Lea Courington, President of Friends oF WRR Board of Directors at firstname.lastname@example.org.
