The Friends Support WRR

Founded in 1921, WRR is the second-oldest radio station in America. WRR 101.1 has been continuously playing classical music since 1964.

The Friends of WRR was formed in 1978 and incorporated in 1990 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization benefiting WRR and arts organizations across North Texas.

What Do Friends Do?

Your support helps the community through our scholarship program for music students and our instrument drive providing instruments to students in need.

We support WRR, the voice of classical music and the arts in North Texas, by advocating to keep them city-owned and independent, promoting classical music education, and partnering with arts organizations to increase awareness of all arts programs.

We purchase equipment for WRR when needed. A mobile radio broadcasting van was purchased to enable the station to broadcast directly from the community.

The Friends would like to thank the following community partners: The Cultured Cup, Corporate Communications Center, Dame Strategy, and Lewellyn’s Print Shop.

These local businesses not only serve their community through their products and services, they also see the value in classical music access for all of North Texas. Let’s take a moment to support and appreciate the businesses that give back! Thank you!

Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.
